It’s casual and comfortable, making it a busy, but not impossible, spot to snag on the weekends. It’s got the classics, but also some Southern flair — hefty portions of sweet potato hash, local pork sausage, cheesy grits, or amaretto french toast. Eddie V’s is offering a prix fixe three-course brunch menu of indulgent favorites on Easter Sunday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Such as Lobster Quiche, Roasted Avocado with Jumbo Lump Crab, and Steak and Eggs. Brunch Cocktails such as Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and Bellinis are available as enhancements. A La Carte dinner options are available all day.

This list is put together through my own research and from businesses reaching out to me. Check back later as I update the offerings in this post. This list is not exhaustive and I update the information becomes available. I try to feature as much as I can but certainly this is not all that is out there.

The extensive menu balances sweet with savory dishes, like the nachos and slow-roasted pork with rice and beans, the guava and cream cheese stuffed empanadas, and tres leches pancakes. The Cuban flavors and ingredients pair well with a sweet baby cortadito or cafe bombon. Table & Twine has helped strip away the stress of meal planning for a group or an event. This Easter Charlotte 2022, Table & Twine offers a delicious, easy-to-make brunch or dinner package. Guests can choose from either package or get both, and each package can serve either 6 or 10 people. Haymaker is offering a $45 per person prix fixe menu for Easter Brunch.

Universal Orlando's Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar Review

cowfish charlotte menu

Top-notch gourmet burgers, gorgeous sushi, and a one-of-a-kind hybrid (called burgushi, which makes, say, sushi rolls out of traditional burger components) essentially mean Cowfish is three separate restaurants that are rolled into one. Locally owned, The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar has been the perfect spot for a business lunch or a family night out since 2010. Order a bento box with a mini burger, a sushi roll, and sides or their signature burgushi, a fusion of both burgers and sushi.

What is The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar?

With its exceptional food, inviting atmosphere, and attentive staff, Cowfish is a must-visit for food enthusiasts and anyone looking for a memorable meal during their visit to the Universal Orlando CityWalk.

Sushi Combos

One of the standout aspects of Cowfish is their menu, which is filled with an impressive selection of sushi rolls, specialty burgers, and creative dishes that blend the flavors and styles of both cuisines. Whether you’re a sushi enthusiast or a burger lover, there is something to satisfy every palate. The “Fusion Specialty Bento Box” is a must-try, offering a delightful combination of sushi, sliders, and flavorful sides that showcases the restaurant’s culinary creativity. Forget The Cowfish Sushi Burger Bar’s colorful, off-kilter decor or its nifty virtual aquariums (to help guests while away the time when waiting for a seat) – the real star of this highly unusual restaurant is its tri-fold menu.

Remember that while Cowfish makes efforts to accommodate guests with food allergies, cross-contamination may still be a possibility in a shared kitchen environment. If your food allergies are severe, it’s important to exercise caution and assess your personal level of comfort in dining at the restaurant. The sushi is made with fresh, high-quality ingredients, and the flavors are perfectly balanced. The burgers, on the other hand, are juicy, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. Sidle up to one of the lawn bowling pitches or by the three reflecting pools at this sweet West Side park that is in Santa Monica but has more of a countryside feel than a beachy vibe. It’s not too crowded, and has a clubhouse to rent in case you want to make your picnic a more formal affair. Comprising more than five acres on UCLA's north campus, this outdoor sculpture garden is one of our nation's finest. Be sure to check the web site for the map of sculptures before you go, to enjoy your picnic in view of work by your favorite artists (Maja by Gerhard Marcks is shown here).

The Picnic House is the perfect venue for your outdoor ceremony on the sprawling Long Meadow, alongside the comfortable amenities of our stunning indoor space. We have curated a spectacular list of vendors to recommend for your event. Recently completed is our beautiful, private Couples’ Suite where you can relax before & during your wedding. This 12-acre park located in front of City Hall downtown was updated ten years ago to have wide stretches of green lawn perfect for picnicking, an interactive fountain to splash around in and a Starbucks, among other lures. Grab a distinctive powder-coated pink chair and sit for a quick bite or to enjoy one of the outdoor concerts or art exhibits staged here.

In more than a decade of Los Angeles living, I've determined that the best meals in this town are eaten under the sun or the stars. And since every night isn't an occasion that merits the patio at Spago, that leaves a lot of space to develop a strong picnic game. The viewpoints from the park’s bluffs let you see all the way over to Catalina on a clear day, and there’s a long trail that leads down to a pristine beach below that’s a protected marine sanctuary. “Life happens, and it can negatively affect tenants, and when this occurs, the lease must be followed consistently and to the letter of the law. If you miss steps, you most likely will weaken your case if brought to court,” advises Fields. It is the landlord’s responsibility to supply tenants with size-appropriate garbage and recycling containers. Otherwise known as “check-in inspections,” these occur annually or a few times a year. Take pictures of the property at move-in, documenting any nicks, cracks, broken appliances, or other damage to the property, and report them to your landlord ASAP.

HomeLight-recommended real estate agents are top-tier negotiators who understand the market data that helps you save as much as possible when buying your dream home. When tax season rolls around, an accountant can assist in filing taxes for a rental property and find out if there are any tax deductions you qualify for. Along with many other services, they can also advise early on about any changes to the U.S. tax code that may result in financial gains or losses. Don’t forget to loop in your insurance agent before you rent all or part of your home.

PIPR replaced the Index of Private Housing Rental Prices (IPHRP) and Private Rental Market Summary Statistics (PRMS) in March 2024. PIPR produces rent prices that are comparable over time (unlike PRMS) and publishes at increased geographic granularity than IPHRP. The Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) Scotland Act capped in-tenancy rent price increases at 0% (and up to 3% in certain circumstances) from September 2022 until 31 March 2023. Between 1 April 2023 and 31 March 2024, this rent price-increase cap was 3% (and up to 6% in certain circumstances). From 1 April 2024, temporary changes to the rent adjudication system restricts rent increases for existing tenants who apply for rent adjudication.

You don’t have to mow the lawn or shovel snow, although you’ll want to keep your property looking sharp. Whatever the reason, it’s a good time for you as a homeowner to consider becoming a landlord. To get your business off on the right foot, here’s how to rent a house in 10 steps. Once that’s done, you can concentrate on packing up and getting ready to move into your new home. Owning a rental property can be a good way to generate extra recurring revenue and develop wealth over the long term. But even with the demand for rental property as strong as it is today, there’s a lot more to renting out a house than putting up a sign, finding a tenant, and collecting the rent. One of the best ways to ensure that your application process goes smoothly is to be as organized as possible. Find out ahead of time what important documents you need to complete the application. Once you’re clear on your budget, the fun part of researching houses for rent begins.

Some real estate brokers also have pre-existing relationships with landlords. And in a business where relationships matter, having someone to guide you through the process—and keep your rental application out of the reject pile—can make a big difference. In general, having a professional real estate agent handle things can cut down on headaches or potential roadblocks. You may miss something major on the rental application, but real estate agents have experience filling out this type of paperwork. You might also have to pay the first month’s rent once you sign a lease, even if you’re not moving in for a while. Sometimes, you’ll be charged a deposit for keys if you require more than one.

Many websites that list homes for sale, like Zillow, also have rental listings. Searching for a rental property has never been easier — there are multiple ways to find your new home. No matter the local regulations, you are protected against discrimination under the Fair Housing Act. To help you navigate the process of renting a house or an apartment, we've outlined the key steps and some important things to know before renting. Take plenty of pictures before moving in and complete a moving-in checklist or inventory.

If a repair isn’t endangering the tenants’ health or safety, you don’t have to jump on it immediately. But you will want to tend your requests in a timely fashion to keep them satisfied and keep the relationship positive. Aside from the basic responsibilities, rental laws and landlord obligations vary by state. For example, in California all rooms require a window, but that’s not the case everywhere else. It’s your responsibility to read up on your local landlord-tenant laws. Before you bring in tenants, you’ll need to make sure your home is ready to rent.

Very similar to the move-in inspection, both the landlord and tenant walk through the property together, comparing its condition against the move-in inspection report. This inspection doesn’t need to be orchestrated ahead of time, as it is much more casual. The landlord inspects the outside of the property to see if any issues need addressing, or if it looks like a routine inspection needs to be scheduled. At the end of the year, any spending decisions should result in a positive financial impact on return on investment.

LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- More properties are being targeted by squatters across L.A., turning homes into complete chaos. Here's what experts recommend for homeowners and short-term rental hosts. Upfront costs are the costs you'll need to pay before moving into your new home, including your down payment, closing costs, and other fees. Your rent payment is the money you pay to your landlord each month. An adjustable-rate mortgage or ARM has an interest rate that can change. Your monthly payments can go up or down with this type of mortgage.

You multiply this by your marginal tax rate to get your annual deduction. Generally speaking, this can mean $1,000 to $2,000 in savings per year based on the depreciation deduction alone. Tenants have rights, such as the right to privacy and not being disturbed, and you have to respect them.

While it’s possible to use a basic spreadsheet or general purpose software, it can make better business sense to sign up for a free account with Stessa to automate income and expense tracking. When filling out your rental application, telling the truth is always the smartest decision. If your credit is not so great, or if you left a previous rental on bad terms, the best thing you can do is to come clean and explain the circumstances. Odds are, your potential landlord or building manager has seen it all before. Landlords want tenants who have a steady income, a good loan repayment track record and a history of paying rent on time. Often, they will conduct a background check to assess whether they want to rent you their house.

Make sure your credit score is acceptable before you apply for a rental lease. In some areas, a broker may be needed to help you locate your new home. A broker, typically a real estate professional, packages all your financial information and submits it to the leasing office and/or landlord for you. They often have access to rentals that are not listed publicly and may offer a wider variety of options. In addition, real estate professionals usually know a lot about the different neighborhoods, local services, and amenities.

Your new landlord or real estate agent will appreciate that you are trying to keep them in the loop. Renting out your house can be a great way to hang on to your investment after you move into a new home. Figuring out how to become a landlord takes some knowledge of how the home rental process works. Here’s how to rent a house to ensure it’s a smooth—and financially smart—venture. These caps and restrictions will not be reflected in the price of new lets used to estimate the price of existing tenancies. Data collection volumes for Brent have been high in recent months.

The landlord is required by the Landlord-Tenant Act to supply the tenant with clean, running hot and cold water. Besides the initial move-in inspection, there are three other recommended inspections landlords should perform. Don’t forget to consider how the number of bedrooms for rent, amenities such as a backyard or off-street parking spot, and the unit’s condition impact a unit’s rentability.

To attract top-notch tenants, here’s a list of to-do’s before you put up the “For Rent” sign. If you do have a challenging application, a real estate agent can help streamline the process, so it might be in your best interest to seek one out. Once you find your dream place, the next step in landing it is to complete the rental application.

Amenities Every Decent Rental Should Have

Typically, Federal Housing Administration (FHA) and US Department of Agriculture (USDA) loans require mortgage insurance. A fixed-rate mortgage has an interest rate that doesn't change for the entire loan term. Your monthly payments will stay the same with this type of mortgage. Home location helps accurately estimate today’s interest rate, tax rate, home insurance cost, and the average home price. Note that the income levels apply to the 2019 tax year and are adjusted for inflation each year.

What Does Active Listing Mean in Real Estate?

Rent Officers receive a notification 12 months after a property's last update, supporting their aims to revisit properties. The average private rent in Great Britain was £1,246 in March 2024, which is £104 (9.1%) higher than 12 months ago. Average UK house prices decreased 0.2% (provisional estimate) in the 12 months to February 2024, to £281,000. This was up from a decrease of 1.3% in the 12 months to January 2024 (revised estimate). If you find yourself with ample earnings from your rental income, check out these must-do moves for choosing a wealth management firm as you determine the best ways to invest your money. It’s common for some landlords to perform routine inspections of the property to ensure it’s in good condition.

“Picking the right tenant can make all the difference, and is one of the top ways to make your experience as a landlord a good one,” Laine says. The rise in Scotland’s annual inflation rate in recent months is more reflective of Scotland’s average house price falling this time last year, rather than increasing in recent months. This is known as a base effect, as explained in our Beware base effects blog. Scotland's average house price fell in winter 2022 to 2023, reaching a low point in February 2023. Scotland's average house price returned to mid-2022 price levels by mid-2023 and has since remained comparatively stable.

Step 2. Check your credit score

If your tenants don’t abide by the rules, then you—not the tenants—will face a fine. If you’re serving as the landlord, you should encourage tenants to report any maintenance issues as they arise. If they’re available only during weekday business hours and a pipe bursts on the weekend, you may be stuck with coming to the aid of your tenant yourself. Picking a property manager isn’t just about finding the one with the lowest fees.

Renting out your home can be a lucrative business if you do it right. That includes getting fully acquainted with landlord, property and tax laws. A team of professionals such as lawyers, accountants and real estate agents can make the whole process easier. While the act of renting out your home can be fairly easy with all the tools available today, you may need help identifying how to best protect your asset. After you’ve received interest from prospective tenants, you’ll want to screen them to make sure they’re qualified to rent out your house. Depending on where you decide to rent, the security deposit amount will vary.

Make a list of what you want

Before deciding to jump into renting, assess your potential rental situation. If you’re a reasonably successful self-employed person, there’s a good chance you’ll meet a landlord’s requirements to rent a home. But, generally, you’ll benefit most by having a consistent employment record. Obviously, it must be one that delivers an income that makes the rent on the home you want to buy affordable. Although landlords are hedged in by a mountain of regulation, nobody but they dictate their job and income requirements to rent a home.

Make a financial plan.

You may or may not have to provide trash removal for single-family units. In some counties, trash removal is rolled into sewage and water service—so if you’re not paying that, you don’t have to pay for trash removal. Landlords aren’t responsible for all outdoor maintenance on single-unit dwellings.

Use our guide to viewing a rental property to ensure you check all the essentials. Also, be aware that negotiating the price of a rental is completely normal. For example, if the landlord is in a hurry to find a tenant and you're prepared to forego that paint job in the living room, you may well be able to negotiate a lower rent.

UK HPI will now return to the usual 12-month revision period for future releases. There was a varied distribution in average monthly private rents across local authorities in England and Wales, and Broad Rental Market Areas in Scotland. Average private rent for Wales was £727 in March 2024, up 9.0% (£60) from a year earlier. This annual rise was unchanged from the 12 months to February 2024, but remains below Wales's record-high annual rise of 9.8% in November 2023, which was the highest annual rise since this series began in 2010. Housing costs include your mortgage payments, homeowners insurance, property taxes, and HOA fees if you have an HOA. One thing to know about me is that I never leave the house without some sort of lip gloss, oil, or balm in my handbag. I’m constantly rubbing my lips together, and the feeling is just not the same if the product isn’t hydrating (sorry liquid lipsticks). I’m always on the hunt for a product that will moisturize and stay put for a reasonable amount of time, so I looked to one of my go-to beauty brands, Charlotte Tilbury, to see what I could find. Charlotte Tilbury Magic Lip Oil Crystal Elixir is infused with crystal ingredients and has some big claims.

At first sniff, you’ll immediately pick up Cosmic Power’s top notes of black pepper and cinnamon bark, followed by warm, cozy amber accord and vanilla bean. Tilbury describes the spicy-sweet fragrance as “empowerment in a bottle,” calling it invigorating yet enchanting at the same time. On the outside of the morganite glass bottle, you’ll notice the numerals “IX” etched onto the vial, along with a sacred heart with flames, which is said to symbolize all-encompassing, passionate, divine love. If you’re intrigued by a mix of gourmand and tart notes, with a touch of floral, Blay thinks you will love this scent—no pun intended. She is famous, like Dolly Parton, for sleeping in her makeup. Her eyes sparkle as she speaks with the runaway, chatty energy of a hostess welcoming you to a party.

It smells gorgeous – I think it’s like a very slight hint of caramel. It’s got a screw cap tube that prevents any spill accidents inside my bag or pocket. I would say it’s about half full, which makes me question whether it’s worth the price.

Tilbury says, “I don’t want to see invisible women,” so her products make eyes look brighter and complexions more dewy, and are known for creating an intensely glamorous effect. It’s packed with all the good stuff like hyaluronic acid for lasting hydration, organic aloe vera enriched with enzymes, vitamin A and vitamin C. I also tried it over lipstick, because I noticed in one of the promotional videos that Charlotte Tilbury released, that the lip oil was demonstrated being used on top of lipstick.

As an overnight lip mask, it works delightfully well. Waking up to hydrated, perfectly conditioned and chap-free lips is bliss! I find that wearing this day and night really helps with the overall appearance of my lips. While I can’t say the oil has given me a lip filler effect, my lips are no longer as rough as before.

charlotte tilbury lip oil

Silva is reserving this sexy fragrance strictly for date notes. “Awaken your senses with magic in a bottle,” Tilbury says of Magic Energy. With top notes of bergamot and myrtle (a white flower), this earthy scent sweetens up with jasmine and cashmere, along with a hint of palo santo, for a sensorial walk-through-the-forest experience. You’ll notice a star and the Roman numeral “I”— both symbols that represent “grounding energy,” according to Tilbury—etched onto the vibrant emerald green bottle.

They look plump and in good shape, in just a week’s worth of use. I absolutely love the soft shine this formula gives to the lips. It feels instantly soothing and hydrating and makes my lips look juicy without being ‘over-the-top’ shiny. These UNIVERSALLY FLATTERING pinky-rose and berry-toned hues love your lips and make them look instantly fuller, defining the lip contours and delivering a tinted, mirror-shine stain effect.

NEW! PILLOW TALK BIG LIP PLUMPGASM

Not a lot of the product comes out, but the rollerball applicator makes for clean and simple use without any excess residue. But make no mistake, this is not a tropical scent adorned with fruity notes, like coconut and pineapple. Instead, it could be more defined as a clean, musk-driven juice that smells like the embodiment of an escape to an oceanside resort. “It reminds me of that euphoric feeling of taking a shower and resting after a long beach day,” she says. The world’s most beguiling makeup artist on beauty, stars, love, and sex.

I don’t think it can be compared to the texture of a lip balm or other lip products. The consistency feels like an opulent mix of water, oil and gel and it applies nicely to the lips. Since using the lip oil, I’ve noticed a significant improvement in the flakiness of my lips, so I’ll continue using this on its own and with my other must-have Charlotte Tilbury lip products for lasting hydration. The texture is really light and doesn’t feel sticky to wear. It’s really nice on it’s own and will make a great moisturising base or topcoat for lipstick too. Plus, the fact that it isn’t overly glossy means that men could use it as a nice flattering lip conditioner too.

Hi, I’m Hollie, and I’m passionate about everything beauty. Over the last decade and a half, I’ve tested thousands of products to bring you the best of the best! I also love bringing you fun and creative beauty looks.

I absolutely love the original Lip Oil, so I was thrilled to find it in two new tinted versions. We independently evaluate all recommended products and services. If you click on links we provide, we may receive compensation.

Flip it open to reveal the glass, potion-like vessel, reminiscent of the “Drink Me” vial in Alice in Wonderland. I wasn’t sold on the idea that my perfume had these transformative powers. Thinking about my perfume collection, though, I do have sultrier scents I reserve for date nights and bolder blends I spritz on before I walk into an important meeting.

As its name suggests, Joyphoria, a warm, floral fragrance, represents the mood-boosting effect of vitamin D. The subtly sweet vanilla scent is all too familiar in my fragrance lineup, but with the addition of coconut water accord and ylang-ylang, it brings a welcomed tropical twist to my norm. I tend to gravitate toward comforting yet sophisticated perfumes that remind me of the California sunshine, but still feel mature enough to wear at the office, and that’s exactly what Joyphoria is.

It’s a nice little touch considering there’s no way to prevent lip products from landing on the tongue (and that I’ve tasted one too many irksome lip flavours). With over 30 years experience, Charlotte Tilbury MBE is the world's number 1 makeup artist and British beauty entrepreneur. As for the amethyst-colored glass bottle, the color purple is said to symbolize balance and restoration, similar to the pull of a new moon, which is etched on the front with the Roman numeral ‘VIII’. Drawing inspiration from fairytales, each bottle is encased in a box resembling a storybook.

Sitka Cruise Port Location, Things to do, Excursions

sitka cruise port

If conditions are right, there’s a chance to explore lava-formed sea caves. We work with reputable, local tour operators to offer you a wide variety of excursions to choose from, in every port you’ll visit. Sitka is definitely worth visiting if you are looking for a uniquely Alaskan experience.

Sitka (Baranof Island Alaska)

Tours of the Fortress of the Bear are often combined with a trip to the Alaska Raptor Center and other historic Sitka sites. Craft beer fans can find local Baranof Island Brewing Company beer around town or can visit the brewery’s tasting room to enjoy a flight of beer. When Russia sold Alaska to the United States on October 18, 1867, the transfer ceremony was held on Sitka’s Castle Hill. This small hill overlooking the harbor also commemorates the spot where the United States flag was first flown when Alaska was officially proclaimed a state in 1959. Initially settled by native Tlingit people thousands of years ago, Russian explorers settled here in the early 1800s and designated Sitka the capital of Russian America. Sitka is delightfully different, curiously quirky and one of the most special places you’ll ever visit, whether on a cruise or a land-based vacation.

Tours Excursions Transportation:

Jeff Budd will meet you at the terminal and take you on a private tour of the town while visiting many of Sitka’s historical sites and wildlife centers. Sitka Fishing Charters – Sitka is one of the best spots in Alaska for saltwater sport fishing. Several fishing charters offer half and full-day fishing trips for cruise ship passengers and often ship your fresh catches home to you. From the shuttle bus drop point in front of Harrigan Centennial Hall, you’re on Lincoln Street, the main downtown drag. There are a a couple of very nice upscale shops right across from Centennial Hall, opposite the harbor. Whether a cruise or a land tour, nothing’s cheap and this includes most shore excursions.

Where You Dock in Sitka – Alaska

There are plenty of shops in downtown Sitka, so be sure to set aside some time for shopping during your visit. Unlike other Alaskan cruise ports, you won’t find the same souvenirs in every shop. Most likely your large ship will dock about 6 miles north from town at what the locals call the Old Sitka Dock. There’s a complimentary shuttle bus that runs back and forth about every 10 minutes to the center of town. Is examined in a free museum on the ground floor of Russian Bishop’s House which tells the story of the Russian traders who built the town.

RSSC-Regent unveils Foodie Voyages for Seven Seas Explorer ship's first Alaskan season

This museum was founded in 1888 by Rev. Dr. Sheldon Jackson, who wanted to display his collection of Alaskan artifacts. The octagonal building is the oldest museum in Alaska and the first concrete building in the state. Constructed in 1842, the Russian Bishop’s House is one of the oldest surviving buildings of Russian America. It served as one of the Russian Orthodox church’s administrative headquarters to spread its influence in Alaska. Hand-crafted Alaska sea salt from the Alaska Pure Sea Salt Company makes an excellent souvenir, and you can find Alaskan herbal soaps and bath products at the Wintersong Soap Company.

Captain JuJu’s – Another seafood mobile unit, Captain JuJu’s is owned by a local fishing family and they cook up what they’ve caught that morning. Their truck is a pumpkin-orange color and sort of tucked away around the corner and across from St. Michael’s Cathedral, on Seward Street. This didn’t sit well with the Tlingit people and a bloody uprising took place. In 1804 Russian reinforcements stormed ashore in revenge for the attack two years prior. Russian forces succeeded in driving the native Tlingit from their ancestral home, to resettle on the other side of the island. Cruise Hive was established back in 2008 and among the earliest blogs in the industry.

Alongside Tlingit carvings, woven baskets, silverware, herbal soaps, and masks, you’ll find Russian lacquer boxes, nesting Russian dolls, and recreations of Russian icons. There are plenty of edible gifts, too, from smoked salmon to berry preserves. Spend time browsing the local galleries; this is a very creative community, and you’ll find original paintings, photographic art, prints, mosaics, and ornaments. Buying from a gallery supports local artists, but always look for the “Made in Alaska” mark to ensure the authenticity of goods. Like other towns along the Inside Passage, Sitka is surrounded by natural beauty and is a prime location for spotting wildlife. The town lies on the 100-mile-long Baranof Island, only accessible by air or sea, and covered by the dense Tongass Forest.

The oldest museum in Alaska also holds the honor of being the first concrete building in the state. Live performances are held in the summer months, with drumming and the chance to join native dance around the fire pit. Tlingit clans inhabited this area long before the Russians began to settle there.

The best time of year to get an up-close encounter with whales is between September and December. Unfortunately, most Alaskan cruises sail well before these dates, so you might not be able to see any whales while in Sitka, Alaska. But you’ll likely be able to see plenty of sea lines, harbor seals, and sometimes sea otters. Totem Park is the main attraction, with 20 hand-carved totem poles scattered along the nature trails. The Visitor Center can get you up to speed on the park’s history for inquisitive visitors.

An offshoot of award-winning Ludvig’s Bistro, the food cart serves Ludvig’s renown seafood chowder by the gallons every day. Slightly spicy, not too creamy-thick, this is one of the best chowders I’ve eaten. There are also freshly-made baguette sandwiches, an assortment of cold drinks and picnic-type tables to sit at and enjoy your lunch.

After various skirmishes, a fierce battle in 1804 drove the Tlingit back to the forest, and Sitka became a permanent Russian fort called Novoarkhangelsk, or New Archangel. A majestic Russian Orthodox cathedral was built on this site between 1844 and 1848 and stood for more than 100 years until it was destroyed in a fire in 1966. Until then, the church was Alaska’s oldest religious structure, dating back to the Russian era. It’s not a busy tourist town and it retains its’ small-town charm.

Castle Hill, also known as Baranof Castle State Historic Site, is one of Alaska’s most historically significant places. I highly recommend a wildlife tour with Allen Marine Tours while you are in the Sitka Cruise Port. With its location on Baranof Island and nestled in the heart of the Tongass National Forest, Sitka is a perfect spot for seeing wildlife.

This Russian Orthodox cathedral is a replica of the original church building built in 1848 and destroyed by a fire in 1966. St. Michael’s Cathedral requests a donation if you want to enter the church. If your smaller ship tenders in Sitka Sound, it’s only a five-minute boat ride into town. I hope you enjoyed reading this Cruise Port Guide and that it will be useful to you. If we’ve tempted you to visit XXX you can search for a cruise here..

When you embark on a cruise to Sitka, Alaska, you’ll find yourself nestled between the Pacific Ocean and the stunning Alaskan wilderness. Known for its rich Tlingit heritage and Russian colonial past, Sitka is a cultural jewel of the Last Frontier.
